Fraudulent Email Alert
Phishing emails continue to get more sophisticated. A few clients recently received an email from the email address [email protected] with my first and last name in the “from” field. THIS IS NOT FROM ME. That is not my email address. The email mentions work for $450 and has a link to my website; it is quite believable although with flaws.
I encourage you to let me know if you received such an email. Please forward it to me at my email that you already know, the one this message is sent from, or call me.
As far as I can tell, the email itself is not harmful, but I suspect they will request something if you reply. If you have replied, please forward me any further correspondence from that party.
I have reported this to the Internet Crime Complaint Center, an agency of the US Government which works with the FBI, as Google does not get involved in policing.
I am not optimistic for any reasonable resolution. We all need to be diligent in examining suspicious emails to protect ourselves. I remind that because phones and tablets do not support hover functionality, you have to take additional steps to see if an email address is valid. Additionally, don’t save that address to my contact information (thinking you may not yet have saved my email address) or you may inadvertently write to it in the future.
